But...
We
knew this would probably be the result. Just glad we found out about them before they went belly up.

However, we'll keep on playin' the ones we've got.. buyin'...tradin'...swappin' stories...maybe even stretching the truth here and there for the new members...

Fer sure. I played my first Tacoma back in 2000 at Mars Music. Didn't have the spare change at the time but was impressed. Very impressed. Never could find another one after that, though.
Last August I was looking for a Martin dread and ran across a DM-9 on Craig's List. Went over to the seller's house, played a couple of measures of "Little Sadie" on it and handed the guy the money ($250!). Lightly played '01 model. The seller said the strings hadn't been changed in six years and I figured that anything that sounded that good with dead strings would sound great with new ones. Replaced the strings the next day and was not disappointed. Saw another DM-9 on Ebay last October and bought it for the Buy it Now price (which was also pretty low). Got a mint '02 which also sounds great. Not as throaty as the '01, but I'd be hard pressed to tell you which I prefer. They're both simply two of the best guitars I've ever owned and I've owned some pretty nice boxes, including Gibsons and Martins.
I'll probably get around to looking for a Martin again, but it's not a burning issue.
Tacomas are gonna be rare birds thanks to Fender. Hope that doesn't drive the prices sky high. I'll definitely be looking for a couple more.
