From the House of Musical Traditions website:  (House of Musical Traditions ) :

On April 2, 2009 we received news that Fender (the parent company of Tacoma) is dropping Tacoma guitars entirely from its product line. Word had been that they were moving Tacoma production into the Connecticut Guild factory, but this is no longer the case. We have not received word as to whether Tacomas will be manufactured under any other company -- it appears they are being completely phased out.

They have a Chief w/electonics and an EM-14C and ER-28C without at about 45% discount ($699, 899 and 1049, respectively).   Cry

I don't recall anyone getting anything this definitive from anywhere in the dealer netowrk or from Fender -- correct me if I'm wrong.

But...
We knew this would probably be the result. Just glad we found out about them before they went belly up.
 Shocked

However, we'll keep on playin' the ones we've got.. buyin'...tradin'...swappin' stories...maybe even stretching the truth here and there for the new members...

Finish issues have not made any difference in the sound of my Tacomas!!! I can easily over look for the sound quality! Smiley

I can't believe that anyone here would stretch the truth about their beloved Tacomas! Anything said here is gospel in my book! Fear not newbies, this is the place!

Okay, fellas, reality check..... We've been conjecturing about Tacoma's demise for a long time, at least ever since I joined the forum. Heck, Mo, who's that guy who keeps drilling hte Tacomas over on AGF - Wade Hampton Something-or-other??  Good points brought up, tough ride for the company, and so now it's gonna happen.

Let's see, what came of Tacoma?
Well, I have a DR28 that beats feet all over anything anywhere near to the same price.
The 55 series instruments have been an absolute beauty to behold.
The all solid mahogany 9-series are loved all around.
There are still some outrageous custom shop instruments floating around......

I feel pretty lucky to have a 28, and a 9, AND a parlor. Good ride, good times.

Cheers!

I think the only people that have problems with Tacoma finish issues are the people that haven't played a Tacoma.

I like my Tacoma even though they won't make any more like it. I also like my Saturn, and there won't be any more of those either.....

P.S. A shameless plug for the other thread on a Tacoma get together.....we need some good news, and it doesn't get much better to me than hearing about people actually getting together and making music. ( And if its in the right part of the country I'd love to be a part of it )
